If there’s one thing Myrtle Beach is known for, it’s our exceptional golf courses. With over 80 venues sprinkled across the region, it’s an irrefutable paradise for golf enthusiasts. But more than just the average 18-hole round, some of our acclaimed golf courses offer an unmatched experience, giving you a taste of the professional golf league.
Experiencing True Grandeur at the Grand Dunes
The Grande Dunes, a celebrated course on the Myrtle Beach golf scene, is a complete golfing experience. Designed by Roger Rulewich, the course unfolds across rolling terrain with panoramic views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The Grande Dunes is not just a place to swing your golf club; it’s a place to experience golf to its fullest extent. The conditioning is immaculate, and the picturesque views are as good as any golf course along the South Carolina coast. A visit here is truly an unforgettable experience making you feel like you’re stepping onto a professional tournament course.
Tee off like a Pro at Tidewater Golf Club
Since its inception in 1990, Tidewater Golf Club has been synonymous with phenomenal golfing experience. Carved out amongst a forest of live oaks and pines, its natural allure is only rivaled by its challenging design, asking golfers to conquer demanding fairways and reservoirs. Tidewater’s layout is aesthetically pleasing and challenging, making it feel like a PGA Tour destination.
Experiencing History at Pine Lakes Country Club
Pine Lakes Country Club, known as the “Granddaddy” of courses in Myrtle Beach, holds a historic charm. With its fairways having welcomed golfers since 1927, it is the birthplace of the esteemed publication Sports Illustrated. The newly restored course keeps its classical architectural nuances while incorporating modern-day design principles, giving you the prestigious feeling often associated with pro golf.
King’s North at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club
The famous King’s North at Myrtle Beach National is an Arnold Palmer signature course. Its distinctive “SC” bunkers and island green nicknamed “The Gambler” offer unique challenges that often require strategic decision-making associated with professional play. The course draws pros and amateurs alike to enjoy its enticing blend of playability and aesthetic appeal.
The Dunes Golf and Beach Club
No golfing adventure in Myrtle Beach is complete without playing The Dunes Golf and Beach Club—another Robert Trent Jones Sr.’s design that you don’t want to miss. The Dunes Club has hosted various golf championships, and its most famous hole, Waterloo, leaves a lasting impression on all who play it. Further elevated by the stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, feeling like a pro is genuinely a swing away on this visually arresting course.

Couldn’t agree more with this blog! Barefoot Resort has been my go-to for years. Love the variety of courses designed by Fazio, Dye, Norman, and Love III. I do need to branch out a bit though… The ‘Granddaddy’, Pine Lakes is next on my list. I mean, if it’s good enough for Sports Illustrated… Hope I don’t end up in the ‘SC’ bunker at King’s North though – heard that’s a real bear!
Absolutely loved my experience at Grande Dunes. The views were just as stunning as promised in this article. The course totally feels like a pro tournament, adding a thrill to my weekend games. Might check out the Tidewater Golf Club next, but does anyone know how challenging the fairways are there? Looking forward to another glorious day on the greens of Myrtle Beach!
